DENNY WALLEY – guitar/slide guitar
JEFF MORIS TEPPER – guitar/slide guitar
JOHN THOMAS – keyboards
JOHN FRENCH – drums/percussion/guitar

NOTES:
This album was recorded in early 1976 but never released. This particular dub was made from an ANA(1) copy given to a record company employee by Beefheart himself. This same tape has been bootlegged on CDR with excessive noise reduction, but this fresh new transfer is completely free of NR. Don’t be fooled by the European bootleg “Dust Sucker” which comes from a very poor quality tape, and not the “Captain’s original tapes” as the liner notes claim. This copy is the real deal!

Tracks 1-10 are the “In Color” album re-recorded. Tracks 11-15 are outtakes and alternates.

From the original compiler:

– On the “Rockline 2003” show, someone called in and asked the band for the history behind this disc, and Bun E. Carlos gave the explanation. The “In Color” album was produced by Tom Werman, but the band always felt that Werman screwed up the album. “He made it safe for radio, but the album sounds like it was done in a cardboard box.” So about five years ago [late 1990s] they were in the studio hanging around with the producer Steve Albini, and had nothing to do for a few days, so they said “Yeah, that would be fun to redo that.” So they started re-recording the songs. They have not finished it yet, haven’t gotten all the harmonies or instruments on it yet, but someday they might finish it and piggyback release it as a bonus disc with something else.

From the original uploader:

This is a very nice Nanci FM broadcast. She mentions that she just wrote “More Than a Whisper” which is on her “Last of the True Believes” album of which I think that was her last one for Philo and the semi big time days fast approaching.
After listening to the Nanci Griffith Ark Coffeehouse torrent I made the other day I just plain forgot that the woman is pretty darn good.So I perused my very small Nanci Griffith collection and came up with this one. So the lineage is I got this one in a trade along with the Ark Coffeehouse disc thence to EAC>traders little helper>you.
