  1. Hey Mat, I’ve got a question for you. After I downloaded this 2/2/91 show (thank you!) I looked in my library and found a 2/3/91 Grisman Garcia Warfield show with the exact same set list. It’s hard for me to imagine they played the exact same set list two nights in a row. Do you know if there is a show in circulation from 2/3 and if so whether it has the identical set list? Thanks!

    1. I have both shows and they do seem to be different. Its a little hard to tell because they come from different audience sources and the songs are pretty similarly played, but the banter is different and this one has some tuning after Grateful Dawg that the other one doesn’t have. Its possible the banter and tuning was edited out, but they seem like two different shows to me.

I believe this was the first time the two played together like this so its seems very possible they put together a setlist they liked and felt like they could perform together and then didn’t alter it. I know the Dead liked to just get up and play whatever they were feeling in the moment but with Grisman there I’m guessing they wanted a little more solid footing.

Course I could be wrong I have not sat down with both shows and listened back to back so its possible its the same show with two different date listings, but I don’t think so.

      1. I believe this was also being filmed to be turned into a movie so its possible they played the same songs to ensure there was coverage on everything and to get the best “take” so to speak.

  2. Thanks for thinking it through. I just checked a site called Jerry Garcia Setlists and it lists two separate shows with the identical song list. So I’m with you, they played the same list both nights. And thanks for that 12/17/90 show. Listened to that yesterday for the first time and it’s great.
