Jimi Hendrix – The Collector’s 1970: Studio, Private, Related & Remixed Recordings

Jimi Hendrix
The Collector’s 1970:
Studio, Private, Related & Remixed Recordings

Hey gang, I have a little request to make. I have this massive 375 track set from Hendrix filled with lots of cool stuff. Trouble is I’m not overly familiar with Hendrix and what’s been officially released. From the looks of this set it seems like its a lot of unofficial b-sides and outtakes, etc. I’m happy to post it but if most of it has seen an official release then I don’t want to deal with it. So if any of you are Hendrix superfans and want to dig through the track list to see if its ok to post I’d really appreciate it.

I’ve uploaded a PDF that includes all relevant info which you can download here. The track list and notes are too big to even post directly to my blog as it would just look like garbled goop.

Anyways if it is cool to post (or if the majority of it is ok and I can trim out whats not) then I’ll do it. Thank you.

This is the 5th Show of Bob Dylan’s 1984 tour with former Rolling Stones guitarist
Mick Taylor. The songs are starting to have a little life in them but still they are far
from what they will become in the coming weeks. Taylor still is feeling his way
around them but vocally Bob is starting to groove. Compare “Every Grain of Sand,”
“I and I,” “License to Kill” and “Masters of War” compared with later versions (or
with Real Live if that’s all you have) and see how far Taylor will take these songs.
We get a couple of gems on this one. Again we get “Why Do I Have to Choose” (the
only cover on the tour) and Dylan really sings great on it this night and Mick Taylor’s
slide is just about perfect. Also, Joan Baez joins Bob for a great version of “Blowing
in the Wind” and “I Shall Be Released.” “Forever Young” is a great treat here also.
Right now is the 20th Anniversary of those shows and I thought it would be cool to
release each show to STG on the date of the actual show plus 20 years. So, here is the
fifth show and we’ll see if I can keep up with the rest of the tour. Enjoy.

Santana report: Plays the lead on “Why Do I Have to Choose” beginning at 2:46 and
even though his tone does not fit the song, at least he doesn’t hit any wrong notes this
time. This guy is bad. These shows really highlight how BAD Santana was, playing
in the wrong key, at the wrong time, bad tone and playing a part which did NOT fit
into the song. What was Bob thinking with this guy? No artwork, enjoy!

Thanks for the first seeder, posted in Feb 2005.

It’s an FM broadcast of the Clash playing in Hong Kong and one of the last
gigs Topper Headon did before being sacked. It is FM but it is not the best quality, it
still ranks as a must have show. It is most likely not a full set as they were playing
longer gigs on this tour. There are also some interesting(!) cuts in the tape, it would
appear that either the taper has cut out the radio anouncements or they were cutting
the gaps between songs to save tape. I was well pleased when this turned up as a friend
of mine was doing security at the gig and always told me how good it was.
If you have a better source, please post it.
