San Jose, CA
December 12th, 1965

She Belongs to Me
To Ramona (Epic version)
Gates of Eden (easily the definitive live version of this song, singing/phrasing is unreal)
Baby Blue

Mr. Tambourine Man

Tombstone Blues
I Don’t Believe You
Baby Let me Follow You Down
Tom Thumbs Blues
Long Distance Operator
It Ain’t Me Babe
Ballad of a Thin Man
Positively 4th Street
Like a Rolling Stone

My copy of this show came with the San Francisco show from Dec 1965 (which you can grab here). I have broken them up for the blog so that they will both be easier to find when searching, but I have kept all the notes that came with the set in both downloads. – Mat

From those notes:

I had a chance to listen to the two Dylan concert items in the Stanford Library Archive labeled as:
MO733 Box 119, reel 7, Bob Dylan, San Jose 1965, Dec 12th
MO733 Box 134, reel 5, San Francisco, undated

Box 119 contains the entire San Jose Civic Auditorium concert from December 12th, complete acoustic and electric sets

The Berkeley December 4th show does NOT exist. It has been mislabeled all these years, it is actually the San Jose set. The electric set from San Jose is the exact circulating recording that has been available over the years labeled as Berkeley Community Theater. I guess I’m making a habit of correcting Sony mislabeling stuff, kinda funny.

  1. Hi, I’m trying to download this bunch of files, but I can’t with any of them! Is there anything wrong anywhere? Thanks for your help……

    1. Hi, I’m having troubles too: when I start the download from amazon drive nothing happens. I thought it was my browser, but other sites seem to work fine. I also tried to download some previous bootleg you posted, which I had already downloaded, but I find the same issue.
I hope I was useful, you’re doing an amazing job.

  2. Hi, Matt. First things first, thank you for all this wonderful Dylan material you share with us. I too have problems downloading this file and the San Jose show. I click on FLAC/MP3, then [on Amazon Drive] I click on any of the folders and…that’s it…nothing happens. I tried via Google Chrome, Mozilla, and even IE11! with no results. Is there anything wrong with Amazon Drive? I really appreciate any help you can provide

  3. Ok, it is now not letting me download either, even from my admin account. I’m gonna assume its some problem on Amazon’s end for now. Lets give it a day and then try again. If it is still not working tomorrow I’ll contact Amazon and see if I can figure out whats wrong.

  4. Hello – I’m still having problems. I use IDM as d/load manager. Every time I get to about the 150mb point the download goes back to the start, and I get error msg [from IDM] = restarted from the beginning because of possible data corruption.
I don’t know if anybody can help???
    thanks anyway, as always

  5. Half a century later and we are all still learning. Guess it makes sense since we had the San Jose acoustic set only and the ‘Berkeley’ electric set only.

In a sense it matters little exactly where they are from, only that we have them in the best qual possible. I’m hoping for a less distorted ‘Long Distance Operator’, a proper ‘one-off’ and a true classic also. Of course rare live outings of pos 4th st are also most welcome!
