source 2: AUD>MC>R>C>CD>EAC>SHN
source 3: AUD>MC>?>C>R>CD>EAC>SHN
composites:
–the SBD (source 1) provides the acoustic set and Me & My Uncle to
the end of the show.
–Source 2 is from a Jack Toner AUD recording, and provides the NRPS set.
–The rest of the Dead’s electric set is from source 3, which is
also derived from the Toner AUD.
alternate tracking:
–the entire New Riders set can be placed onto one disc.
–The Dead’s acoustic set can be placed at the beginning of what would
be “d2” of this shn set, allowing the Dead’s portion of the show to
fit onto two discs total.
notes:
–Jerry aborts Black Peter midway, probably because of monitor problems
–from Sugar Magnolia through Drums, there are problems that cause
frequent dropouts/fluctuations in recording levels, possibly from
strain on the tape from movement during the concert.
–this is the latest known It’s A Man’s, Man’s World (as of Jun ’03)
–this is the earliest known Till The Morning Comes (as of Jun ’03)
–tape flip at 2:11 in Till The Morning Comes
–warble at the beginning of Me & My Uncle
–small AUD patch over glitch in Dancin’ at 5:06
–Tighten Up Jam in Dancin’ starting at 8:40
–Sound Forge was used for normalization and minor pitch adjustments

notes:
this is a remaster of the sources from shnid 17893
the sbd, source 1, provides Me & My Uncle to the end of the show,
the rest is from source 2, a Jack Toner aud recording.
I haven’t touched the sbd section, other than to tweak the patch
in Dancin’ and re-encode to flac, but I did feel that the aud section
could be improved. It still suffers from the dropouts, etc but
I think that the sound is now better.

Matrix sources
1) SBDMR > Alesis Masterlink > CDR > EAC > WAV > FLAC
10″ 1/2 track SBDMR Scotch reels played back on a
Revox 1/2 track A700 > Alesis Masterlink 9600
EAC > Flac transfer by Noah Weiner – October, 2006
2) AUD> MC > R > C > CD > EAC > SHN
Jack Toner recording
Notes:
– I cleaned up the aud as much as I could then eq’d it to give it a brighter sound, it was originally very muddy sounding
– the aud was paused between tracks and was missing most of the tuning, these have been patched in from the sbd
– the sbd had the start of the first track and the end of the last track missing, these have been patched in from the sbd
– the aud had the whole of “Truck Drivin’ Man”missing, this has been patched in from the sbd
– there were a couple of other small segments of music missing from the aud, which have been patched in from the
sbd
Comments:
There’s no doubt that this matrix has got some rough edges but when it works, it works š
