Geetarz Comments:
This show is of historical importance, as it is apparently
the only time Duane Allman played live with the band.
There are claims that Duane also played the Port Chester gig (with photo taken by claimant) but no confirmed tape survives.
Apologies, my mistake – Syracuse (Onandaga War Memorial), 2 December 1970 (photo with D&D, Duane plus journalist R Gersbacher on Facebook) and a blog/ memoir by Ron Wray also makes the same claim as does a reply to him. Sadly, no recording as yet.
Who the hell books a show in Syracuse for the night after you play in Tampa? Sheer lunacy. Worse than what the Allman tour manager used to set up for the Brothers.
I, too, have heard that Duane played two shows with the Dominos. Never knew what the second show was.
Gersbacher photo is at https://www.syracuse.com/news/2012/01/music_legends_from_aerosmith_t.html
Thanks. Cool little article too.
Duane looks road weary in the photo. Bobby Whitlock looks…….well………wasted.
The article says Elton John opened that night. Has Elton ever confirmed Duane playing with the Dominos that show?
Yep, I’ll have this up for you in a day or two.
