Watch Marcus Mumford and Maggie Roberts Perform “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” at Somo Fest (07/15/23)
I first heard this song via the Coen Brothers’ completely underrated film Inside Llewyn Davis. But it is a very old song that has been covered by folks like Fred Neil, Jeff Buckley, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and our friend Bob Dylan.

Simply fantastic! Dylan’s version was my intro to this great song, for sure, and I’ve also loved the Jeff Buckley version you mention.
This version is so totally different from those it almost seems like another song. Sublime.
p.s. it’s always funny to me how much I **don’t** know about music. I fancy myself as one who knows a lot … and I do. But I’d never heard the name Maggie Roberts until this clip. And based on the intro and everything, I can only assume she’s pretty big in her own right! This keeps happening – I’ll hear about someone who’s been doin’ it and doin’ it and doin’ it well for years whom I’ve never even heard of, much less heard their music. Dang.
I only recently discovered Maggie Roberts. My Youtube feed showed me a bunch of stuff from some recent British festival and she was on it. I dug whatever I watched and watched a few more and then this showed up.
I think she is pretty big in England but hasn’t made the same dent Stateside. But you’re over there so you should have already known her name :).
There really is a ton of great music out there if you look for it. Too much for any one person to discover really.
I hear that. I spent a week sleeping in a bed that wasn’t mine and that is never conducive for me to actually get much sleep. Now I’m home but the weather has made my wife congested and that means she snores. Loud. I find myself sleeping on the couch just to get some peace and quiet 🙂

Oh duh, you are in Atlanta not England. My first clue should have been your handle LOL. What can I say, I didn’t get enough sleep last night 🙂
Ha ha understood! On that note, unfortunately not getting quite enough sleep is an ongoing thing of its own for me lately!! lol
