OldNeumanntapr Notes;
This was the second Lois Capps for Congress benefit that I recorded, the first being at the PAC in 1998. David Crosby & CPR opened and Jackson headlined. It was a good show. I always like hearing songs from the first Jackson Browne LP, ‘Saturate Before Using’. I used the Neumanns for this show, whereas the first benefit I had used the Nyquist omni’s, which don’t have as good of sound. Thanks, as always, to Dave for his help with this one.

Do NOT Convert To MP3.
Enjoy! Share freely, don’t sell, play nice, don’t run with scissors, etc. 😉

  1. These OldNeumanntapr shows continue to be a blast to hear, especially since this is the first time I’ve seen any of them on a blog … thanks for taping and sharing them OldNeumanntapr and thanks a lot for housing and sharing these puppies here Mat !!

    1. I’m glad, that you, and everyone, are enjoying them! It is my pleasure to share. Recording and archiving live music has been my one driving passion in life and it’s nice to see that people are appreciating them.

      My wife has never understood the stacks of CD spindles, the stacks of computer hard drives, and the drawers of DAT and cassette tapes that I have carried with me for the past 38 years like the Ark of the Covenant. She has told me that when I die she is going to make a big bon fire with all my recordings and ‘Dance around it like a wild Indian!’ (I guess she can say that because she is part Native American, but it still won’t be a very comforting thought to have on my death bed.)

      I am a collector as well as a taper and I have amassed over 8,000 shows, thanks to electronic file sharing.

      It’s so nice to have Mat at the Midnight Cafe take the time and hard drive space to host my shows on his blog. It’s cool to see them pop up in my email inbox and know that they are going out to people who will enjoy and share them with other like-minded collectors.

      Currently, Mat has shared almost half of my masters, along with a couple of others that I have done post production on. I have had friends upload my shows before to torrent sites but this is the first time that they have been hosted on a blog. I have been working hard to make sure each recording is tagged and includes front-cover artwork and has any audio anomalies corrected before sending them out.

      Look for more in the future!

      ONT-

      1. Everything about your tapes stand out – first, very nice recordings of excellent artists; then, having them tagged is a huge time-saver for every person who ever converts them to another medium as I do. And the art features nice photos of these great artists, photos that are all new to me. It’s the total package! And don’t worry, my dear wife laughs at my music obsession too, lol … which is kinda better in a way, because it’s “my thing” in a world where I do so much with my family and community and at work … it’s nice to have my own little corner of the world here in music. Listening all day every day and I doubt that will ever stop!

  2. I agree with everything NoelM said about the OldNeumanntapr shows. The ones I have heard sound great, and I appreciate the tagging and the art as well.

    I am so thankful that people like you, OldNeumanntapr, had the foresight to record these shows so that we now have the pleasure of listening to them in our homes.

    And as always, thanks to Mat for maintaining the site, without which we wouldn’t have the opportunity to hear these great performances.
