Bob’s Boots review: The quality of this CD is well below average by today’s standards, but for a 1965 audience recording, it’s not bad at all. Get over the low fidelity buried sound, and you’ll be rewarded with a gem whose historical value cannot be overstated. It’s a great performance, to start with. Very unlike the raw power that was to follow in the coming year.. but just as good in it’s own rights. Consider it being the only recording of any substance of Dylan & The Hawks (The Band) of that year,… consider that it contains the only know version of the title track,… consider that some of the arrangements are like no other known recording, …. and this CD becomes a masterpiece.

  1. Thanks for this one!

I was wondering if you have the Genuine Supper Club Soundboards from Scorpio listed in the must have section of bobsboots?

    Thanks again!

  2. Mat, sorry what I meant to make clear is that the ‘upgrades’ on my list are the scorpio releases – 4 cds, essential stuff, lovely balanced live ‘matrix’ mix and one of the few things Bob did in ’93 that is really worth checking out

    • In fact, this is not Berkeley but San Jose, 12 December 1965. Recorded by Allen Ginsberg, someone made a cassette copy which became this boot CD. Full tape available in 2017., including acoustic set. Does NOT include Visions of Johanna. It appears the Berkeley show was not recorded.
