  1. Cheers Mat, can’t remember much about this particular one, only ever had as a grubby little mp3. Like a lucky dip this tour, no clue what u r gonna get fro night to night (apart from the growl and Freddie’s fab guitar of course)

I’ll try to gt the Berlin RAR uploaded

  2. Yeah, it’s a shame Freddie didn’t stick around longer.
I loved his playing as well. These European and UK dates
from late 2003 definitely have their moments.

    Thanks Mat.

  3. If it’s alright Ma, I’ll move this question over to a current posting.

    It’s Alright Ma, I’m only wondering….

Was listening to Cardiff 2002 the other day. Had forgotten how good
It’s Alright was in the arrangements from around this time… or could
    be rather.

Got me thinking which are the best performances from 2000 to 2005
    of this song?? (Pref uk).

    Candidates should:-

    a) not feature the crowd clapping along 😉
    b) feature Bob remembering the words, or most of them

As a side issue: which year featured the arrangement where the band
hold back for the verses but then put out a very heavy, low down blues riff on the instrumental breaks?

I thought it was 2002 but it wasn’t.

    Suggestions welcome!

  4. Tony not sure if the recording you are thinking of but there was an all electric version of “Its Alright Ma” from 2007 with Denny, Stu and Bob all on electric guitars, early 2007 had some top notch moments, cheers very much for this show!

  5. Thanks Jim for the suggestion.
2007 is past my Bob Bedtime (which is 2005) but I’ll try and check it out.
He’s always capable of throwing out surprises after all.

Eg, the new arrangement of Maggies Farm in 2006. Never cared for that song
in live performance. It works brilliantly on the original LP, and that’s enough for
me (unusually). But the 2006 (minor key?) version is a real killer.

To answer my own question. It was the 2005 version of Alright Ma that I was
thinking of – fantastic low down blues. Brixton 2005, second night seems to
    be a good version.

  6. Thousand Highways is currently covering the Brixton ’05 residency. I was there and have had all the excellent Crystal Catr recs for a while. Really don’t understand the fuss about these gigs. Bob had a relatively high profile in a wider context at the time and i remember all the hype about theatre shows etc, but really these performances are just average really, nothing compared to Hammersmith ’90 or even Prague ’95. In fact I found some of the arrangements to be rather sterile and plain quite frankly.
Of course there are very good moments, but then again there always are very good moments
Incidentally I seem to remember a very good performance of ‘Alright Ma’ at the second Wembley night of 2000. Hugely underrated those Wembley gigs and gorgeous sounding boots from Cry Cat, even better than many of the other wonderful Cry Cats from that excellent tour

Cheers Mat, don’t think I have this one in lossless. From memory Crystal Cat didn’t cover this gig, nice that once again the excellent Mr Schubert is there to pick up the pieces
