  1. Mat

forgot to say thanks for the early link. I was concentrating on this show initially as i find Van’s performance here fascinating. The vocal is really out there, it’s as if he is reaching for something in his voice and is right on the jagged edge!

Getting ‘Sweet Mary Blues’ in theses sets is a real joy and a true rarity

So interesting to hear the man in a small combo setting which has a quite different feel to that of the ’74 tour. Also nice to hear him blowing his sax and his ‘Missisissippi Saxophone’ too.

St Dom’s Preview is fab throughout this run of shows IMO

On a recording note. It is impressive and surprising how much presence (and bass warmth) these recordings have considering the equipment used. Further evidence that with taping, as with property, location is everything!

Thanks again for all your efforts. I hope that those who have enjoyed these shows will also find the missing link to EDGE’s post of the other show from the 7th that I posted in the comments (It’s available at G101) . Always nice to have the full set of these kind of things.

Big thanks as always to the good folks at JEMS who have done a great job with these tapes.

    • Thanks for turning me on to the torrents. Please do let me know when you see things like this (or anything that interests you) in torrent form. I’ll try to grab everything I can.
