OldNeumanntapr Notes;
My friend Gene and I had planned for a long time another taping excursion because we hadn’t seen each other since we met at the Ventura Fairgrounds for the Dead shows in June of 1987. Gene suggested the fall ’95 Shoreline run, but I thought that the earlier run in June might be best. As it turned out, there was to be no fall Shoreline run because Jerry passed away in August. I’m glad that we were able to make it work. Gene booked a Days Inn in Mountain View, and Dave and I drove up to the SF airport in my white ’91 F150 to meet Gene’s plane. I remember driving into San Francisco to help my sister move, she was going to Hastings Law School at the time and had rented a room in a Victorian house for the summer, and Gene asked me to turn on the truck radio. I tuned in KFOG FM, sadly no longer in existence, and the first thing we heard was the Grateful Dead over the airwaves! We drove through the Haight Ashbury neighborhood and I took Gene to see the Grateful Dead House, at 710 Ashbury.
