OldNeumanntapr Notes:
This was the only time that I have ever seen Dick Dale play a complete acoustic show, and he had his son Jimmy with him as well! (The last time, I believe, that I saw ‘little Jimmy’ was at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz in January of 1995 when Jimmy had just turned three-years old.)
I searched online for a concert photo of Dick Dale with an acoustic guitar and all I could find were pics when he was holding ‘The Beast’, his gold Fender electric guitar. I guess this was the only time that he did a tour entirely acoustic. (Dick would play a couple of songs acoustic at some of his shows, but it was always in the middle of an electric set.) I thought it was cool, but I’ve NEVER had much interest in this recording because it wasn’t the typical Dick Dale electric show. I’ve seen and recorded Dick Dale a number of times and I thought this show was different and special. My fiend Steve from work saw this show with me and we stood just to the left of the front center ceiling post about eight feet from the stage. RIP Dick! You were amazing!
