Total time: 40:01

Comments: Well played and vocally tight first set. Nite-nite themed second gets off clunky with a vocally miscued and forgotten Cats Under the Stars, but then cuts to the core during Mississippi Moon with the explosive dynamic range this era of JGB is capable of. The nitemarish destruction of Gomorrah presents Lot with much horror and temptation before a soothing and deep Russian Lullaby gets you nearly tucked into bed before one last hoedown under the Midnight Moonlight. Excellent audience recording with minimal intermittent audience noise and no technical artifacts detected other than tape pauses between most tracks.

Thanks to J.Powell for the CDR source.

Transfer: Maxell XL-II > Nakamichi DR-8 (Dolby off) > Audiophile 2496 >
Soundforge > CD-Wave > TLH > FLAC, by Andrew F. (May 2008)

Notes: This source is an improvement in sound quality over the currently
circulating source (ShnID-22889), with brighter sound and more consistent
levels, although there is still some hiss. Both this and 22889 have the
same eight songs, but in a different order. This version presents the songs
as they appeared on the cassette that was transferred (four per side). The
fades heard bewteen the songs (tracks 2 thru 8) were there on the cassette.
It is not clear if the cassette has the songs in the correct order as they
were performed, or if this is the entire show, or possibly a compilation…

With my THANKS to Ted Gidley for providing the tape to transfer!

Digitally remastered using a custom built, Dual DAW, nicknamed Bertha, by jashley@deadacated.com. Completed on 6/14/2004.

Very light noise reduction (pure sample) applied to make the tape hiss a bit less noticeable.

Notes:
– Level adjustment made at the start of “Sugaree”
– The start of “How Sweet It Is” is slightly clipped. This wasn’t noticeable on other circulating copes as they have been faded in.
– There is a splice in “The Harder They Come” at about 10:15 which has been smoothed out.

Notes:
– Clean but partially oversaturated recording of some good material, including a pretty hot Let it Rock. The Jerry Site lists this as set one, but two factors lead me to suspect that it’s actually mostly set two. First, the setlist looks more like a second set from this time period, with Harder They Come opener and Midnight Moonlight closer absolutely characteristic. Second, Jerry’s “Thank you, see you later on” after Midnight Moonlight sounds more like a show closer than a set break announcement. I suspect the Russian Lullaby is from another show, but this is pure speculation. I can’t recall it ever having been an encore, and the crowd is utterly silent before it starts, which they wouldn’t likely be if this were indeed an encore.
– t03 Let it Rock cuts in, not much missing. Levels come down a little bit at about 6:30, reducing the oversaturation of the recording.
– t04 Midnight Moonlight mix shift toward R channel @ 0:51
– t05 Russian Lullaby, mix changes @ 2:12, more hiss in R channel after.

– A nice recording of a very enjoyable show. Things might be
running a bit fast, I am just not sure. If not, then things
are just really upbeat. The last three songs have some sig-
nificant overload distortion.
– A few songs barely clip in. The only edits I undertook were
to smooth a few tape transitions.
– d1t06 Tangled Up in Blue splice @ very start (tape flip).
– d2t06 Midnight Moonlight cuts in.
