  1. This is a classic Warren Zevon set. For clarification, this recording was done at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California, not Los Angeles, and was recorded for broadcast on KSAN in San Francisco.

    1. Wow! Warren was at the height of his success as a rock star and drinking as an alcoholic with his third album and its subsequent tour. This concert was before Warren’s leg injury in Chicago, where he was born in 1947, after falling off the stage later in the year. Judging by the music video, Warren’s drunken dancing would have occurred during “Nighttime In the Switching Yard” from Excitable Boy. I watched the bootleg videos from the tour in 1980 when Warren switched from alcohol to cocaine. The tour resulted in one of my favourite live albums: Stand In the Fire. I owned it on cassette for my car until it was finally released on compact disc in 2007.
