David Gans has been producing the Grateful Dead Hours for years and years. It is a weekly radio show that airs mostly live Grateful Dead music (most of which is officially unreleased) but also tons of other Grateful Dead related (sometimes only barely) music. It is a great show and I was very said when I moved away from a radio station that plays it.

For awhile Gans was releasing his show to the internet in MP3 format (though pre-radio compression so they still sound much better than if you had recorded off the air) to whoever asked. Actually he still might be doing that, I’ve just stopped asking. Anyways I have a few of them on disk and as I’m trying to upload basically everything I’ve got you now have it too.

Mat, Thanks for this episode of Grateful Dead Hour. The Steve Winwood song made me go looking for a downloadable copy of the whole show. An Audience recording can be found at Archive.org The Dead Live at Meadows Music Theater on 2003-06-21 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Sound quality is VERY good, even though the show was held at an outdoor venue, with high winds, rain and cold. Winwood apparently opened for the Dead, but played throughout the show with the Dead, with Winwood’s sax player, Randall Bramblett adding greatly to many songs, especially Aiko Aiko (just before Low Spark). I don’t know if you can offer this show, but I’m sure any fan would love to hear it. BTW, this show is apparently also available commercially, as a 3 CD set, “The Dead Official Concert Recording Series Summer Getaway 2003 Hartford, CT. 6/21/2003. The commercial release is not mentioned at Archive.org, and again, this is a “sound board” quality AUDIENCE recording. Thanks again. Keith | | | | | |

Thanks. I was thinking about finding that Dead show and the Garcia one and posting the entire thing.

Saw Traffic open for the GD at Buckeye Lake, OH – July 29, 1994. Closest I ever got to the stage at a GD show, and during the Traffic set, I could see Jerry off to the back of the stage, nodding and bopping along as the band played their set. . . . A midwestern deluge came thereafter, kinda detracted from the Dead’s show, but I can still see a happy Jerry in my mind, just enjoying Traffic’s music. . . .
