  1. Hello, I’ll reuload this show as soon as I can. A whole bunch of my shows (like nearly all of them) were deleted a few months back so I’m quite backlogged in reup request, but I’ll definitely get to this in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your patience

  2. Many thanks, Mat – a really interesting one. Doug Messenger’s last gig with Van. Vince Guaraldi sits in for the second set on electric piano – Jeff Labes moves over to an acoustic one and is pretty much inaudible.

Lovely stuff, thanks – a very interesting point historically, just before things geared up for the Caledonia Soul Orchestra tour later in 1973. This was the last time Doug Messenger played with Van.

No doubt most of you already have this. I’ve posted it several times before. But if you don’t have it, get it. Stone cold classic it is.

Awesome! I only have this in MP3, not FLAC, so this will be an upgrade – thanks Mat!

  4. This looks great, though it’s hard to tell in the Amazon directory which one this is as there are several versions of this date’s show in there. Tks for any hints you can provide in comments.

    • It is confusing. I get very confused myself. Trouble with shows like this is that they are very popular and get bootlegged often. Van fans have never created a system like the Lossless Bob numbers of the shinid numbers that Dylan and the Dead have so there is no good way to differentiate between sources. I’m a completist so I want every copy of every source but its hard to figure out what is what sometimes. I’m quite sure some of these sources are exactly the same except for some text files and artwork. But I upload them all anyways.

Actually I just noticed that I uploaded a JTT source but dont’ seem to have included it in the source information in this post. I’m gonna download everything I have on the Amazon Drive and see if I cant’ get this sorted out better.

  5. Alright, I’ve cleaned up the notes. It should now be easy to tell which file on the Amazon Drive goes with which source here. I also cleaned it up a bit so it should be easier to read.

    • I guess I misunderstood something but now I get it. You’re linking to /all/ the copies you have of a show on a particular date. I thought this post reflected a re-re-re-edited collection… “The Lion Roars” was my first serious — and still a personal favorite — van trading experience and over the years I’ve picked up more or less every version in circulation of this show. Still I’ll sort through this and see if there’s a version in here I don’t have ….

  6. Yes, that is is. If I have multiple sources for any given date I post them all on the same page. That makes the most sense to me. It still gets confusing though as their are a lot of random sources for some of these shows.
