This complete soundboard recording is an upgrade of the already impressive recording that appeared on the 1996 CD release: “Blown Out On The Trail”. The quality here is astounding. Taken from a lower generation source tape, there’s less hiss, far greater dynamic range, and the occasional digital skips that were present on the earlier release are now gone. 1988 was an exceptional year, and this performance shines as the best of the best. The many mouth-watering highlights include an electric arrangement of ‘Gates Of Eden’ and a magnificent ‘You’re A Big Girl Now’. This is, without doubt, an essential listening experience.

Thos one’s a crackerjack boot!! Now if you can find ‘By The Waterfront Docks’ 3rd July 88 (Scorpio boot) the quality is just as special and is also in the ‘must have’ section. I’ve never been able to find it but review is here – http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-b94.html

The files from this show needed very major amplification from Audacity to make it listenable!!

Here’s a debate question for Dylanologists: what bootleg, what show surprised you the most? Mine would be East Rutherford, N.J. 10/27/81 or San Francisco 11/15/80.
Anyway, perhaps I need to give this another listen…

Would have to be Berlin 2003. In the middle of a really patchy poor european tour (ok it had some good moments), and with Bob in really poor voice, for one night everything changed and he produced one of his best and most focused performances of ‘recent’ years. The band really responded too. The setlist isn’t radically different but the phrasing and the cocal performances are on a different level altogether compared to the rest of the tour. Basically it’s one of those one-off Bob gigs which you should hear thru some decent headphones and in the company of a decent bottle of something!!
