I finally ran out of bandwidth.  Turns out the throttled speeds aren’t bad at all.  I was expecting dial-up style slowness but I’m still downloading at about .81 mbs (and about a quarter of that for uploads) which, while not awesome, is loads better than my expectations and more than enough to keep me blogging.  It will likely slow down the amount of shows I upload, but not by that much.  And posting will now be able to continue at regular speeds.  Huzzah!

  1. Great to see more David Crosby, truly one of the great iconic voices of ‘rock’ well certainly a big favourite of mine anyway. Why on earth he didn’t record more with the Dead I will never understand. I mean all that hype about Bob playing with them (eventually) but really DC and the Dead is a perfect match IMO.
The ‘Perro tapes’ were great, you’d have thought that would have led to more of an ongoing association over the decades.

  2. This is just awesome sounding! Thanks so much!!

I saw Crosby with CPR around this time (I had seen him with Graham Nash as a duo in 1993 at The South Shore Music Circus in Massachusetts which was awesome and with CSN many times over the decades) But the time I saw him with CPR in the late 90’s was most memorable because I got to meet him and really chat with him proir to the show. It was a bizarre gig as it took place at the New England Aquarium in Boston. A benefit, I’m sure, of some sort. If you’ve ever been to the NE Aquarium, you’ll remember the amazing penguin display- well, thats where the gig took place, inside the aquarium, with the penguins dancing along to CPR! I had asked David if he would play Carry Me- (the song he wrote for his mother from the 1975 album Wind On The Water) as my mother had recently passed away. He said he didn’t think he would (I figured because they hadn’t rehearsed it as a band, so I wasn’t too disappointed – it was a long shot) Anyhow, it was a general admission show with everyone standing around the Penguins. I got right up front near David onstage for most of the show. At one point they busted into Homeward Through The Haze, (another amazing song off Wind On The Water). David looked right at me and shrugged his shoulders, as if to say “Will this song do?” I gave him 2 thumbs up and smiled.

Listening to this Maritime show from 1997 brings back so many wonderful memories and I thank you for that. I still have two cds David signed for me- his first solo album and the first CPR cd with the purple cover which had just come out.
