This one is the real deal. I’m not sure what is up with the other
versions that are circulating, but I agree with comments that
shnid 20009 sounds like it’s from an FM broadcast. This seed is
pre-FM and is superior–at least to 20009. BTW, I just LOVE this
show!- Sean Cribbs 8/2005

Notes:
– Tape pauses have been cleaned up with crossfades.
– Quite a number of small droputs have been repaired.
– All tracks have been pitch corrected.
– The soundboard that circulates and DP10 both have a splice in “Eyes Of The World”,
around 47 seconds is missing. This is the only complete version currently in circulation.

Thanks to everyone involved in getting this out there.

  1. Tony you are a day early for NYE – they were probably keeping their powder(s) dry. I’m assuming there is a gig on 31st, i’ve nothing after 29th in my archives

  2. Oh yeah, I’ve got it wrong –

    The 31st is NYE….

know who I blame? Mat !!!!!

    Check the picture above.
C’mon get a grip Mat ! – just kidding of course.

There was a NYE show, but never heard it……..
The proprietor will sort us out I’m sure.

  3. The picture clearly states the date as 12/30/77. Ok so it also says New Years Eve too….

I could be wrong but I believe their NYE shows were so popular they started doing several of them each year. They did four shows at the Winterland at the end of December and my understanding is they called it a New Years run or something. Basically the real NYE shows sold out so to meet demand they did several nights.

    Or something.

Anyways the next nights setlist isn’t actually much longer. I think they eventually got tired of doing marathon shows on NYE kind of like they got tired of doing three full sets in the early seventies. But what it makes up for in length (its still clocks in close to three hours) it more than makes up for in awesomeness.

  4. That’s interesting about the popularity of the New Year’s
    runs….

Anyway, totally my mistake – I saw the words New Year’s
Eve and the date 30th and being an idiot I didn’t remember
actually how many days there are in December!
