Another gem from Bob and the boys – I simply can’t understand the reservations some people have about this 2000 tour. As far as i’m concerned (and most of those I saw it with) it represents a true high point in live performance terms, in fact along with ’99 consistently the best of ‘recent’ times.
We are truly blessed to have so many great quality recordings from these 2 years, not just the superlative Crystal Cats, but lots of really excellent boots and great private masters like this one
For all the excellent performances of very recent times, Bob’s vocal power and range have not been matched since (with the exception of late 2002 of course)

I would go even further… !
If I absolutely could have only one year’s worth of the
maestro, I think it would have to be either 1999 or 2000.
These aren’t necessarily my favorite years but in terms of
breadth and depth of performance and material, I would
suggest that these represent the acme, the zenith, the
apogee. (Are there any astrological metaphors I’ve
missed?).
Compare, say, a year like 1981 (to pick pretty much at
random) – yeah, many great performances, no question;
but neither the setlists nor the performances vary all
that much, and the shows all begin to sound very similar
after a while. A handful of boots and I won’t miss the rest.
Not so a year like 2000. The spring shows are
very low key, laid back affairs, and Bob is singing in his
best ‘closed up’, private, sleepy/comatose style and yet
often managing to communicate with every word.
The fall shows are consistently more energetic, Bob is
“performing” more [for bigger venues?], a different style again.
The summer shows seem to me to fall somewhere in between.
More ups and downs perhaps, but plenty of rich and wonderful
shows to mine.

I thought 2000 was a really good year. I caught the show in Salina, KS just a few months before this one and it is one of my favorites I’ve seen live… Looking forward to spinning OKC!
