I have these, presumably the same file sets – ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL – two of the best RTR shows and Joni too!!!!
Pretty sure you gave them to me Dave. So thanks for that. Actually I sent you an e-mail on it a few days ago to get some better source and track info, but it must have got lost.
To all: this is the best information I could find on both shows. Its difficult to find who exactly is singing and performing on some of these songs.
Killer stuff though, totally worth downloading.

I’ll dig around for whatever i’ve got on these. Have some artwork from older 2*4 cd issues i got as mp3 years back. All issues originate from same tape sources. I think these later file sets are master or close to it anyway. I seem to recall posting links in comments here to recent postings of these shows on g101. I definitely didn’t send you the actual files on this one.

In my humble opinion i’d say they are worth grabbing for the ultra rare live Joni sets, on top of all the other more obvious reasons.
ps Mat – I found the zippy auto file splitter to be just fine and dandy. I’m assuming of course that you managed to unzip the ones i posted for you ok. Is that the method you used here i.e. one zip file and multiple z01, z02 files etc. Basically anyone who can open EDGE’s posts will have no issues. Just need to remind people to select and ‘extract’ only the .zip file and let the software automatically find the other 200mb z01, z02 etc parts.

Just went looking to see who sent me this show. Twas an old friend of the site who sent me a ton of great things over a year ago. Strange to see all the people who have come and gone on this site over the years. I’ve met so many cool folks doing this.

Thanks for the chance to hear these – and assume from reading the comments they are of a great quality. I saw – not these – but one of these ‘shows’ and part of the whole listening to these again will be trying to imagine what it must have looked like – that was a parat of the whole Rolling Thunder Review – watching the 2 twins – at the start – perform a song and then hear.at least the night we saw a/the Review one of them just state – Dylan – and he sang. You would see the different performer appear on stage – and wonder what would happen – and then slowly but surely Zimmerman would show himself – solo, with guest or co-star and then play a set with the core musicians. Imagine seeing, in 1975, Dylan and Mick Ronson on the same stage – and it felt right. Different parts of the review – different artists (still have never got Joan Baez and I’m sorry) but you knew you were seeing a bit of your own musical history playing before your own eyes and also knew this just wasn’t some concert – it was Rolling Thunder. Only thing I wished would have taken place – The Band should have been along for the ride!. Thanks – again and always – for your work of love with this site – and thanks for sharing it with your readers. All the best

To me the soundquality is pretty good, if not to say very good, if taken to account that the basic CD was taped in 1975.

Not SBD but EX AUD qual. The Dylan portions have regularly been mistaken for SBD over the years and have been included as such (particularly the quite brilliant acoustic songs) in various tour compilations and collections (Tonight Bob’s Staying Here With You (Great Dane) Cowboy Angel Blues etc). You need these because the performances are stunning, the qual is very very good and you get rare live Joni from what was a great songwriting period for her!

Sorry correction – Flagging Down the Double Es (might have been posted here I think) contains the Dylan portion as SBD. However it’s not great SBD and some feel the AUD is superior, at least for the acoustic songs. In fact on reflection ‘Tonight Bob..’ had the Totonto stuff from AUD, ‘Cowboy Angel’ had a couple from the SBD. i need to revisit my archives later. I’ve recently dl’d several more complete RTR shows, and with the Kokay releases getting out to a wider audience in recent times, the picture is not as clear as it once was.

OK confusing picture. Both nights are prob based on the Vine That Bob Meyer Put together a few years back on ‘A Tree with Roots’ site. This was both nights complete in decent AUD qual. The LK version of the first night complete is the same as this. For the second night he upgraded the Dylan portion to the truly EX AUD from his tapes. This is a noticable difference so try the acoustic sets. If the Dylan tracks are better than Joni’s for sound qual (mics) then you have something based on LK’s set.
The SBD for the first night has me stumped. ‘Double Es’ SBD boot is based on first night and track list matches. However I have no LK SBD ver for this night. This is weird as his set is comprehensive and I received my mp3 copy as a ‘complete’ set. Error somewhere, sorry folks.
I have just discovered a recent lossless d/l of the first night comlete AUD. It is the same source as the LK/Meyer ver, but a significant upgrade. Notes claim a slight EQ, no other info given. The upgrade is more than just that. If the FLAC files are named in this format (eg disc 3 track 1 ‘times a changin”) as ‘751201c-01’, then you have the same file set and the best AUD ver i have heard of this date.
I’ll check for a SBD ver of the first night when i can get to my lossless archive later.

Mystery solved – ‘Double E’s’ boot is NOT SBD – major and rare error from Bobs Boots. You’d think that someone next to the taper screeching ‘HURRICANE! MAGGIES FARM!’ before ”Lot To Laugh’ would be enough to give it away.
Any feedback on sources, qual of these posts (particularly second night) in relation to my comments above would be appreciated. Bandwidth is under strain, disk space is critical! This process has at least helped me to spot one more duplicate in the first night (nother 1.5gb recovered!)

Found my lossless ver of 2nd night – hidden in ‘logs’ folder (check yours) I found a proper info file for my version. It is the krw co, analog master to dat clone VER

even more confusing as unusually for them, they didn’t actually do the analog transfer, just the DAT clone to EAC
If you can’t find the proper info file then the file name format is as follows
‘cd1Track01′ etc. LB says it has the warmest sound but runs a tad slow. I’d be surprised if they got the sc wrong as they are usually excellent with their releases.
The masters for both nights ran fast, think about it for a minute, 4 hour shows in 1975 R2R tech, tapers must have been pulling a trolley full of batteries. Better to run too fast than not to run at all!
Any input from anywhere would be warmly received. these shows are so essential that it would be nice to pin ’em down properly. As with many of the 75 shows they have dribbled out piecemeal in varying qualities over internet boards and forums, poorly documented and then in some cases stuck together with the original traded (and usually superior) incomplete tape sources to make complete shows and posts.
Can you match either of these shows to my lossless versions or to the Kokay version of 2 Dec? If you can we can get a known lineage etc. If they are different to mine and it turns out that i can upload an upgrade then i will happily do so

Can anyone check the samples against this fileset?
These wonderful examples of selfless 70s taping are deserving of far more respect than they have been shown to date. My instincts are telling me that the two sources i have, were bundled together and uploaded to Hunger City in 2007. Also that this post is probably the same filesets again. Should only take a few minutes for someone to verify this. Please don’t make me download these dates for a fifth time in the last 6 months just to find out which versions have been posted.

last comment is summary of the situation realy. Bottom line is for 1 Dec mine slightly has the edge, not too much in it. For 2nd Dec however neither of us have the right version!
pretty sure i’ve pinned down the LB numbers however (elimination, disc splits, sound characteristics and ‘signature’ pops, clicks etc).
Grab the artwork from the zippy (but don’t let the included info files get wrongly associated with this fileset) and maybe update the post with the LB numbers if you feel inclined. There are far too many undocumented versions of these shows knocking around, I know from bitter experience. Also as i mentioned the efforts of these tapers desrves better ecognition IMO.
