maybe you should have offered some constructive comments when matt asked for suggestions on hosts rather than resorting to abuse. I can’t get it to work at all it crashes my browser but i appreciate that it was an attempt, an attempt that took a long time from what i’ve read and we’ll see what happens next. Never forget you’re getting something for nothing so if you don’t get it what have you lost?

I’ve had no issues at all – downloaded lots from xerver, in reasonable time and with no issues, is it adverts causing browser issues?
If you are gonna use free services of any kind you really need ad blocker software of some kind. Really recommended for a peaceful useable internet these days. For windows with IE or Firefox i recommend ‘adblock plus’ – works perfectly with ad sponsored sites like turbobit, g101 pages etc etc
as a general note it is more helpful to give details with technical ‘issue’ – operating system, browser etc
ps just returned home to find a 850mb download from xerver completed on my pc.
I think this is same as i d/l’d a while back – if it is then it is the source tape for the Rattlenake boot of the same name – one of the very few dates from this tour that Crystal Cat either did not record or failed to release for some reason.
It actually crashed my brower on first attempt to upload. But second attempt did ok except for the crazy slowness.
I don’t mind the griping about the various free services though a little politeness goes a long ways. Also it certainly helps when you have a problem to give me details so I can try to help.
Yea, I was just looking around and saw that this tour was covered extremely well in terms of tapes. I’ve downloaded a bunch and will continue to post them.
I wonder if it is an apple os/browser problem – to be honest my Firefox is completely happy with it.
Generally though – Honest Folks get ‘Adblock plus’ – what have you got to lose, it’s free (open source) and you can always uninstall it anyway

plus i’ve been testing it hard for 3 months – particularly good in Firefox, nice toolbar button to temp disable etc

Could be an OS issue. I do use Firefox and I do use adblock plus.

Not a complaint – just some feedback on xerver. Have tried it twice and on both occasions it screwed up my browser and also downloaded some unwanted extra stuff. Downloads checked beforehand and showed as “clean” . I use Chrome & a blocker.

I’m at a loss to understand these issues. I mean I really have d/l’d a ton of stuff from xerver in the last few months and apart from the speed not being spectacular have absolutely nothing else to report at all. Haven’t even had a failed download that i can recall.
Maybe it’s Chrome – All my virus and malware checkers report that setup file as suspicious. Also the 2 times i installed it briefly on my pc for particular reasons i HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES. Couldn’t wait to get rid and NEVER AGAIN!!!!
One point, not all blockers are equivalent, and obviously i cannot vouch for ‘adblock plus’ in a Chrome environment anyway. Come to think of it i just wouldn’t be in a Chrome environment anyway.
Do yoju really want to get your browser from the world’s biggest spying and data collection agency? Of course they make it free and fast, but hten you can pretty much say the same for Firefox and they don’t have any other agendas.
I’ve discovered that Xerver bought up the FileOM server infrastructure after they were forced out of business (via pressure on the cc payment providers etc). As such it is likely they will suffer the same fate in the not too distant future.
I was looking for technical limitions but it’s amazing what you find on this internet thing sometimes! if it’s true they are next in the sights then they are unlikely to be a long term hosting solution antway
