Paddock Wood is a burrough in the town of Tunbridge Wells, Kent. A center for the growth of hops harvested on tall stilts. TW became quite the posh place to live and commute to work after the railways began passenger service to (rather nearby) London to the north in the 2nd. half of the 19th. century. The upscale members of my father’s family (not us) moved up there from Bucks. Big expensive houses as I remember, having gone there for Christmas dinner, we call it lunch, once. That was enough for me at the age of seven. This was followed by the male members of the family (the ladies staying by the fire with sherry glasses) traipsing out for an invigoring ramble in the mist and rain and hard rain. Then vain attempts to warm up in front of the fire – the only heat for miles around. Wear thermal underwear if you visit!

Much as I am a great fan of Mr Y (especially with the Horse), my big memory of 2008 was R.E.M. at Old Trafford the following month. Don’t suppose it is in the archives?
I’m afraid not. I love REM but have not gotten around to collecting their shows. There are quite a few of them out there though so you might be able to find it on another site.
