– Nice recording.  I found the show to be a bit sloppy,
including a botched ending to Cats Under the Stars and
consistently rough vocals.  Great songs, some nice
performances, but not the highlight of late ’83, IMO, YMMV.
– I smoothed a few tape transitions (during applause/tunings)
and did quick crossfades (0.05s on each side) at the cut in
Dear Prudence using Sound Forge Studio 6.0.
– d1t05 Valerie clips in
– d1t06 Tangled Up in Blue cuts out, missing maybe a minute?
– d2t02 Rhapsody some muffling in the 6-minute mark
– d2t05 Dear Prudence tape flip @ very start, not much missing

Thanks to Jim Powell for the source CDs!

  1. Thanks Matt, did not have this one.The comments/notes with the text are accurate: Decent AUD recording just some sloppiness and blemishes here and there. Jers guitar is up there in the mix compared to some of the fall of 83′. His vocals are rough and weak at points. Not as steamy as the 12th. Brief sets as with the 14th show…Still enjoyed listening: Valerie highlight of first set. Garcia is shredding nicely. Gomorrah is short yet solid for a highlight of the second set.

    1. Thanks Pig. I always look forward to hearing your thoughts. Haven’t sat down with this one yet. Would you be interested in putting together a “best of” for 1983? Just thoughts on which performances/songs are best. Might be fun for me to create a best of compilation to post once I’ve made it through the whole year.
