  1. Remember this tour so well. ‘Why doesn’t he just do it with Crazy Horse?’…etc etc. In those days trips across the pond by Neil were rare and precious. I dragged my flu-ridden carcass out of my sick bed 3 days before the london gig, and hauled it right across London to empty my depleted wallet and secure a ticket for the gig. On the morning itself I woke up feeling human for the first time in more than a week. Sometime a little blind faith is the only medicine you need!

This is one of the core essential boots from this period.

Incidentally, lots of great captures of the current euro tour doin’ the rounds on G101. Performances are universally excellent and setlists are interesting and varied. Gonna make for a terrific tour compilation. Willie’s boys have exceeded all my expectations with their guitar and vocal backing for Neil.

Of course he could have just done it with Crazy Horse……

On this day of all days I would like to reach out across reclaimed ‘Doggerland’ (aka The North Sea) and thank the Dutch Masters for braving the xenophobes and doing such a fantastic taping job. If you sre going to grab just one show, then make it the Leeds gig. A quite beautiful recording of a stunning gig.

‘Can we get it together, can we still stand side by side?
Can we make it last, like a carnival ride’……
