Review:
The Halloween show is one of the absolute ‘must haves’ for every collection. The show is near perfection. Dylan is funny, charming, and powerful. The performance drips with the self confidence of a young man with the world at his feet. Every bit as captivating as ’66 Manchester, and for my money; more enjoyable. This particular CD presents the show in the best quality ever. Tape hiss has been removed from the already incredible soundboard recording.
As a bonus, the famous WBAI FM radio show has been added as filler material. The package is very nice as well. Unlike some of the goofy covers this release has seen in the past, The front is the Daniel Kramer classic Dylan & Baez ‘protest poster’ photo in black and sepia tones. This is as good as it gets. This is most definitely a package that Sony should consider for official release.

  1. This was already released almost 5 years ago as Bootleg Series Vol. 06 Live 1964: Concert at Philharmonic Hall (except, of course, for the brief radio spot)

  2. This is a wonderful post. However, this show has been commercially released as Volume 6 of Dylan’s Bootleg Series. The picture you’ve found is a real gem!

  3. Thanks everybody. I knew this, of course. I have that release. I’ve been trying to organize my hard drive and clean everything out, and make lists of what I’ve got and this show was in a folder of things I’ve blogged before. A quick search of the blog found that I hadn’t actually blogged it and so up it went. Wasn’t even thinking of it being officially released. Just trying to get everything I have up.

  4. The WBAI material at the end of disc 2 is unreleased and something I had never heard before. Hearing everyone in the studio singing along with Bob on BITW is kind of a hoot – very beatnik 60’s in its feel.
