Van Morrison – Unknown Location (12/xx/83)

@2000 when I was an active and voracious Van Morrison collector and trader, I was traded a CD-R noted as being 1983-12-29 late show, Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, California, U.S.A. It was only until recently that that is what I thought it was, until I compared the setlist with a copy that is being torrented at HungerCity. After listening and comparing the two ìversionsî it is clear that they are not the same show. The setlists are similar, but with some obvious differences (noted in CAPITAL LETTERS below). What makes me think that the show I have is from December 1983 is the inclusion of an instrumental version of ìAmazing Graceî, which is noted among Van collectors as having only been performed at San Franciscoís Great American Music Hall for 4 shows on 1983-12-28 and 1983-12-29. All the transitions from track to track are smooth, excepting the very end of Summertime In England, which has been edited/faded (possibly to remove audience calls for an encore) before Tupelo Honey ends the set. My guess is that the venue may also be the Great American Music Hall. The known shows in circulation from 1983-12-28 and 1983-12-29 were on a Wednesday and Thursday respectively; perhaps this is from a Friday performance who knows??! In any case, the sound quality on this is very nice and the performance is great (1983 is my favorite year of live Van performances). Any help in properly IDing this would be greatly appreciated. One possible clue as to date/location may be that during the instrumental bridge between It’s All In The Game and You Know What They’re Writing About (4:30-4:32) one of the band members gives a verbal nod to ìJohn Allairî for his performance.
