In early 1990 Bob Dylan embarked on a whirlwind tour across New England, Brazil, and Europe. He played fifteen dates on three continents in just under one month.
It began with one of his most unusual shows, the now notorious gig at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut. The small club hosted Dylan’s longest gig ever (four one-hour sets) containing some fifty songs which were mostly composed of deep cuts and oddball cover songs.
He then did three gigs in New England followed by two festival shows in Brazil, then four shows in Paris, and another six in London. This short run has come to be known as the Fast Break Tour and I thought it would be fun to share them all (or at least all that I could find, I’m still short one gig).
Most of these I’ve previously posted but I found quite a few new sources, and I’ve included the wonderful Pink Panther compilation of the whole thing.

I was at the State College, PA, show (Penn State University). For years, my friends and I talked about what a terrible show it was. Many years later, I got ahold of a recording of the show and realized that it wasn’t the performance that was bad, it was the acoustics of the concert site. It was held in the campus basketball arena, and the sound was so boomy and echoey that most of the time we couldn’t tell what song he was playing until the song was half over. Just goes to show that even when you’re AT a concert, you can’t always tell how good it is!
I don’t know what version of the concert I have (it doesn’t have any identification numbers or recording info), but I’ll have to check these sources out and compare. Thanks, Mat!
