Comments

Is anyone having difficulty leaving a comment? I’m having trouble leaving comments and it is my bloody site. When I go to my site and try to leave a comment I can type it out, but when I go to hit reply the button turns a light shade and then does nothing.

To actually leave a comment I have to either log into my control panel, or I can bring up a private browser, write my comment where it will then ask me to log in and then I post the comment.

I don’t know if I’ve just got some wonky settings on my browser or if this is happening to other people.

I guess if you can’t leave a comment send me an e-mail: brewcritic@gmail.com.

If people are having trouble then I’d like to figure out why and fix it.

    1. If you would can you try and leave two comments one right after the other. Someone mentioned they had no problem leaving one comment but then when they tried a second one they ran into the same problem I’m having.

  1. Mat –

It worked for me. One thing I did notice, though : when I hit reply, like you said the button turned a light shade, and my comment did not appear right away. I had to exit the post and then come back into comments and it was visible.

    1. It did that to me for awhile. I would write the comment, hit reply and it would gray out and nothing would happen. I had to refresh the page to get the comment to show up. But now when I refresh it deletes the comment.

So let me know if it does anything different as we move forward. Don’t worry about writing a bunch more comments right now but later if something happens please let me know.

  2. Boy, I sure am. It’s impossible to post anything in comments on WordPress. It tells me I need to sign in but won’t accept my password. Then I find that I’m already signed in, but it won’t recognize anything. None of it makes any semi at all. When I try to get help from WordPress administrator it leads me on a circular goose chase and I give up and watch something on Youtube. Been doing this for a couple of years now. Can’t figure out why anyone would us WordPress.

    1. I’m so sorry you are having such trouble. I’ve become increasingly annoyed with WordPress, but I don’t know what else to do? I’ve got decades worth of posts on this site and I don’t know how to move it elsewhere easily.

      1. Hey Mat, Thanks for the reply. I just tried responding by using the “reply” on the email. Guess what. Can’t log in Haha! I agree with what you said though. WordPress has it’s faults but it’s the only game in town. I get the feeling that there aren’t any humans involved in day to day operations. Kind of like being part of a really bad Firesign Theater skit. Ah well I enjoy reading you posts and if I have anything to say I can reply via email. Keep on doing it. Thanks Mike

        1. Yea I really don’t get what’s going on with them. Everynow and then it seems like they will roll out some change that seems completely stupid to me and makes it harder for everyone to navigate.

Strangely, I seem to be able to make comments now no problem.

There are a few other games in town. I keep looking at Substack and thinking about changing to them. But that would mean importing all of my posts over there and then making all of my “fans” move as well and get used to a new system, etc. Just doesn’t seem worth it.
