Gillian and Dave are curretnly doing a small tour where they are playing Grateful Dead and Dead adjacent tunes. None of the shows were anywhere near me (though they are playing a free gig in Tulsa later this month, but it isn’t listed as part of this tour, and presumably will play their own songs). Man I wish I’d spent the money and caught one of these shows. This snippet is amazing.
I think these shows have been the most exciting post Dead music since the passing of Jerry. I have loved Welch and Rawling’s music immensely since first seeing them play live back in 2004 (and multiple times since then). Their versions for this tour somehow contain everything wonderful about their own music while also capturing the feel of the Jerry days. I find it utterly intoxicating. If you have not seen these on YouTube already, here are links to complete audience videos of the first two shows of the tour.

PS I found some real nice audience recording of these shows as well. I can WeTransfer them to you if you do not have them and want them. I am on the lookout for the Captitol Theatre shows and the two in North Carolina.
I love Gillian and Dave and I agree their performance style fits perfectly with these Dead songs. I already have copies of those Nashville shows and have my eyes peeled for recordings of the rest of the tour. Keep me informed if you see them anywhere and I’ll do the same for you.
