a very very old trade from the end of ’70’s with another fan, it’s the first time that i seed it on the web with a big thank you to Christian for the help.

i added a short interview from French radio “FrÈquence Nord” broadcast in 1977 in track 9 on CD 2.
I try to translate (be cool with my poor English!!) the Gabriel’s speech coz it’s in French ( i love the sound of his voice when he speaks in French!!!)

SPEAKER /
Peter Gabriel with Genesis was the first one to give a theatrical dimension at so-called “the rock music” with costume – masks… all these kind of thing, same for the character Rael
with many accessoiries on stage, many stage game. Now are you carry-on like that or simply like a singer who came on stage to do a set?
PG /
Now it’s very important for me to begin for the second time very simply, very directly to the public, because i think that the relation is better if the basis is music…
(…some confusing words, i don’t understand..) but i like visual ideas and maybe in some years i’ll try to make a show with visual aspect one more time and i want to extend the visual
ideas of Genesis because i think that is the beginning of this progression.

Giving a Big Thanks to Ken G. for passing his masters over to me, so they can finally be heard.

BTW. I do tape transfers for various collectors here on Dime, so if you have some tapes that need transferred, send me a PM.

Excellent Sound Quality

This version of The Band has 3 of the original members (Rick, Levon and Garth) with the addition of Jim Weider who replaced original guitarist Robbie Robertson.

Sadly missing in this line up is the orignal piano player Richard Manuel who had passed away 6 months earlier.

As i was digging through Ken’s box of tapes i spotted this recording and i instantly knew i had a gem here.

In fact this particular concert has never surfaced anywhere in circulation.

The Band played 2 nights here at the Talkhouse. This is the first nights recording.

To be honest I didn’t know much about The Band.

I was basically hearing them for the first time while transferring the tapes.

I really enjoyed it and became an instant fan.

I did a search here on Dime and only saw a couple old torrents.

I looked over on db.etree.org and noticed that many of there shows were taped,

but hardly traded and almost none were flac’d and torrented.

Why isn’t there a flood of The Band here?

They played different set lists all the time. Not boring in the least.

They had influenced a lot of musicians through the decades,

such as The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.

Along with a countless newer bands.

Check out the samples and grab up this gem, brought to light for the first time ever.

I need help on the set list. please chime in with song titles.

I expect this show to get some attention. The Quality is Great..

Source: this is an audience recording, graciously sent to me by fellow Dime member “cre001”. Per his description:

“Cassette Transferred using a Yamaha KX-480 tape deck. Dolby off and playtrim at the neutral position.
The transfer was direct into Audacity using the internal 16 bit audio card. Recorded as 32/96 into Audacity and then
exported as 16/44 flac. No processing such as normalising or splitting performed.”

Additional source notes: “Cre001” provided this recording to me as one long file, transferred to me losslessly. I then
used Audacity to separate the recording into individual tracks, and then converted the files to FLAC using Trader’s Little
Helper.

Description:

First and foremost, all credit for this upload goes to fellow Dime member “cre001”, who graciously contacted me and offered
to send his copy of two live shows that he had purchased at a U.K. record fair in the late 1980s (photos included). His
detailed transfer information is listed under “source”, above. It’s also worth mentioning that cre001’s audio expertise
greatly outstrips my own, and I appreciate his high-quality transfer and thorough source notes.

The Maniacs only played 6 shows on this short November 1987 tour of the U.K., and they seem to have made some interesting
song choices (at least based on the two shows provided by cre001). Of greatest significance, this show includes a late-era
version of “The Latin One” and a performance of the unreleased instrumental “Go Song Go”

The Wishing Chair Anniversary flood is coming to an end!

I’m in the process of uploading a few additional recordings
that weren’t in my collection when I began uploading
the “flood”. Three recordings were generously provided
by fellow Dime member “cre001”, and two more were obtained
from another site.

This particular show was unidentified, aside from “November 1987”. However, due to the avalanche of 10,000 Maniacs information provided by Dime member “PaleSun” (who has enough Maniacs info. to fill a small book), I was able to identify this show as being from Leicester on November 9. It’s from the soundboard (not FM), and though it’s certainly several generations from the master source, it still sounds great. That being said, it’s clear that some edits have been made between songs, probably just to eliminate longer stretches of audience noise.

The Maniacs only played 6 shows on this short November 1987 tour of the U.K., and they seem to have made some interesting song choices (at least based on the two shows provided by cre001). Of greatest significance, this show includes a late-eraversion of “Just As the Tide Was a’Flowing”, which was played very infrequently after the end of the “Wishing Chair” tour.
