Queen
Complete Kampuchea Concert
Live in London, UK
Hammersmith Odeon
December 26, 1979

Label: Gipsy Eye 137/138
Material from this show has also been released on the bootleg “Crazy Tour”. It is, however, incomplete and the sound quality is inferior to this one.

Audio Source: Audience recording

Sound quality: EX – EX+ for an audience recording.
True lossless files (ripped in burst mode, but that does not affect quality unless there were ripping errors – I have spotted nothing sounding like that in the files). The tracks are expertly mastered, with nicely balanced frequency/amplitude ranges. Quite audible crowd presence that enhances the live feeling without interfering with the clear sound of music.

Lineage: Aud ? > ? > Silver Bootleg > CDR (X) > WAV (EAC) [burst mode] > FLAC (Level 8)

Artwork: Front and back artwork included, 160 DPI.

Number of discs: 2

Total Running Time: 113:51 (70:47 / 43:04)

Info: A classic Queen performance, one of their best! Includes Brian’s one time performance of Silent Night during his guitar solo.

Notes from http://www.queenlive.ca : This Japanese CDR label bootlegged both audience sources in November 2008,
and both sound better than anything that was previously available. The first source, particularly, is a noticable upgrade.
For discs 1 and 2, Uxbridge has carefully patched in the second source (with seamless cross-fades) where there were cuts in the first source to make it as complete as possible (except for God Save The Queen). And part of It’s Late is still missing, as most of the song is missing on the other source. Discs 5 and 6 of this bootleg CDR package are a slight upgrade to what was previously available from this show.
All in all, this is a very impressive debut Queen release by this label.

David Bowie & John Cale – New York, NY (10/05/79)

David Bowie – John Cale
Two Gentlemen In New York.
FL Records – 080284

On October 5, 1979, David Bowie and John Cale went into the Ciarbisstudio, which is located on top of a house or appartment complex in the city of New York.
They recorded some songs there.
Here are some results of these uniQue rehearsals!!

Lineage: 7″ > HD > Cleaning Software > CDR > HD > Mind-Warp PaVilion

Side 1: Velvet Couch
Side 2: Piano-la

I purchased this numbered limited edition bootleg single, back in the “old days” from one of them “dodgy” mail order services, I expect some time after 8th February 1984, if the release code is to be believed. 😉 In fact, I purchesed 3 copies, expecting that one day they’ll have some value, considering it was limited to 500 copies. I received Numbers 298, 302, and 303. I guess the “inner Circle” got the important numbers. 😆

In any case, my copies have had very limited airings over the last 25 years, and so this vinyl rip is probably as good as it gets.

COMPLETE DEMO TRACKS OF “THE WALL” ALBUM

Recorded at The Floyd’s Britannia Row Studios

(Sept-Dec, 1978 & Late 1979)
& Super Bear Studio(April-Aug 1979)
in France.

This is just like being in the studio with the Floyd!

This is the studio demo track they drawn on to record the final mix of their “Wall” album: every track IS a radically different unreleased version to the album’s.

It includes loads of unedited mixes, never released tracks (merged into other songs), different lyrics, original sound collages etc …

Without the full lush arrangements you get a good idea of what Roger Waters had in mind when he first conceived The Wall: a dry, alienating & beautiful descent into his tormented mind.

It is a real surprise is to hear the band as the original 4 piece experimenting like in “the good old days” with all sorts of different ideas that didn’t make it onto the final mix for most: various synth lines, weird sounds, raw guitars, strange sound collages etc… One can appreciate the massive task of editing and changing most of these songs to fit on the double album we all know.

It is “The Wall” like you have never heard it before: just brilliant!!
