Notes:
This is one of my first (and favorite Tom Waits bootlegs). The original packaging bills this as the info given in the header above, which seems reasonable for much of the CD. There is no information on the artwork about the hilarious interview and song tacked on at the end, but it’s from the Fernwood Tonight TV show, from an unknown date in 1977. A final issue with the packaging is that is mislabels track 5 as “Can’t Wait to Get Off Work”. The song selection, however, makes this a very good bootleg. It’s fun to hear Waits at a point in his songwriting history when he was starting to experiment with the humorous and bizarre storytelling type of peotry we hear within 2 years.

2nd Gen. sbd

there was some great Blues stuff uploaded here recently,
but 60¥s Black roots stuff was sadly missed here, recently……

Since noboy else posted it yet,
so here¥s my favorite tape from Muddy Waters and his Bluesband:

Cambridge, MA. Club 47 Aug.24.1966
A real wild and hot performance by Muddy and his Allstar Band, feat. ,among others:
— Otis Spann,
one of my alltime favorites in Blues! His piano playing and singing is outstanding in this
performance, as usual! He even managed to add a nice new dimension to “Johnny B. Goode “
played in this performance! He was with Muddy since the midfifties………….
Check out his Albums w/Fleetwood Mac(eg. “Biggest thing since Colossos”, he made more than 15 great
soloalbums, they¥re all great!)
— George ” Harmonica” Smith
One of the great harp players in Blues! He released some superp albums in the late sixties,
probably his best on ” Blue Horizon” Label, w/ a white US Blues Band called ” Beacon Fat”
(“Grease one for me”), and also a solo album w/Beacon Fat as side man (“No time for Jive”).
Rod Piazza, one of the great white harp players, was a member of ” Beacon Fat”!

This recording is the only docomented complete sixties performance, of one of the usual shows,
Muddy Waters played these days, as far as I know!
A rare chance to recognize, how things happened in the 60¥s.
Muddy played only on about half of the tracks , his Bandmates fronted their solo stuff on the other half of the performance…..

Notes:
Although this tape is usually traded as a sbd, it was recorded, in my opinion, w/ 2 mics hangin¥over the stage!
So the overall sound is a mixture between sbd and great audience and very listenable!
Some mixin¥ probs in the beginning, which soon were fixed !
MP3 sample below!
A very unusual performance with some incredible playing by the boys,
not the usual live stuff, but great!

– I hve repaired a great many very small dropouts which occured mostly on d1
and d3
– the static that is present in d1t03 has been greatly reduced
– the staic that was present in d1t04 has been removed
– the intermittent static in d2t08-d2t12 hs been reduced so that it is now
almost inaudible
– the following patches have been made using the source seeded by David
Hollister (shnid 19525)
d1t15 – 0:45-0:47
d3t06 – 1:52-1:54, 3:57-4:05
d4t05 – 4:35-4:425
– a number of volume adjustments have been made
– some noise reduction has been applied
– remastering done with iZotope Oxone and Waves plugins
– d1t05 has large dropouts at 0:31 for 1 second and at 2:37 for 8.5 seconds
which are not repairable.
– I re-tracked d2 and also decided to leave Lovelight as one glorious chunk
of music!
