Steven Spielberg has now made five films about aliens. Four of them are actually really good (the less we talk about Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, the better). He’s clearly fascinated by extraterrestrial life. Disclosure Day isn’t as good as I wanted it to be, but it is an interesting film, and definitely demonstrates that Spielberg remains an incredible craftsman. A new Spielberg movie used to be an event. But the days of him making a colossal blockbuster seem to be behind us. Disclosure Day seemed like it might be one, but it seems to have just kind of come and gone. Maybe. I could be wrong; I don’t really pay attention to box office receipts.
