Hi,

Talk about The Who in a time when they were untouchable ! WW12 is The Who at the Liverpool University; Liverpool, U.K.
This show here is high energy show from The Who’s “Who’s Next” tour with plenty of the crowd clapping along, funny stage banter,
and very good performance. The recording itself is kind of bass dominate in some ways but, clear for the most part.
There is some slight tape hiss but overall not too much. I simply fell in love with this recording, I think you will too !

Special thanks to “R.P.” for providing the source to this relative uncirculated recording because recordings like these with decent
sound quality are not too common to come by from this time period.
Now, a very special thanks goes to Eric for providing us with two sets of artwork that you can pick and choose from, there’s a first
edition artwork and then there’s a Union Jack version you can also use for your artwork for the show ! ya-WHO !

Enjoy !

John

The Who – Liverpool, England (05/14/71)

The Who
Liverpool University, England
14 May 1971

A fair audience recording with a little distortion, but definitely listenable. The first 74 minutes of the show are here intact, but the rest is missing. ‘My Generation’ and ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ supposedly rounded out the performance.

Vintage Who here, recorded while ‘Who’s Next’ was being completed and featuring mostly new material. Includes rare versions of ‘Time Is Passing’, ‘Getting in Tune’, and ‘Too Much of Anything’, all dropped by the time they toured the States.

Notes:
Freddie Mercury live pre-Queen. The skinny on the this recording is this according to http://www.queenconcerts.com/

“Recorded by Geoff Higgins (Ibex roadie) on his Grundig TK14 reel-to-reel machine, later sold in an auction to a private collector, then lent to Queen Production for the purpose of including ‘Rain’ in the FM Solo Collection box set, then leaked to the bootleg market. This concert was very important because Ibex were joined by Brian May and Roger Taylor for the encore which means it’s the very first concert with Freddie, Brian and Roger on one stage. Sadly, the tape ran out after 30 minutes so it misses this encore.”
