In light of the news that Neil is working with Crazy Horse again, I thought it would be nice to put this show up again, the live premiere of “Broken Arrow” during the 1996 OPL run

Many thanks to the taper and original uploader for sharing!

Notes on Sound Quality: Excellent (Some crowd noise, but, c’mon, it’s a bar!)

CDR trade > flac 8 (w/ verify)

This is show no. 13 of 16 of Neil’s legendary series of bar room shows at this pub on the west coast of the San Francisco Peninsula (actually two of the sixteen shows were at the larger Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz).

Here is the debut of the album Broken Arrow. All songs are played for the first time live except for Big Time (played in the two previous shows) and Scattered (played in the one previous show). The sound is an excellent audience recording.

I’m unsure of the lineage, but I got this from a big Neil trader back near the time of the show, so it is most likely a CDR clone of the DAT master.

REMASTER

Originally seeded http://www.rustradio.org March 2005
aud recording: Core Sound>D7>DIO2448>SHN>wav>FLAC

Changes made (Nero 7):
Cross mixed channels(70:30), LR balance corrected, instruments / voices clearer
Evened volume levels between tracks

Quality: Clearly worth an A now

The original post said …”this is the 1990s “organic” incarnation of Crazy Horse
playing at a tiny bar in front of a packed audience of 100. Earthy, funky music –
but also spiritual, surly bonds type of stuff. Luminous, incandescent, intense,
whatever … Have fun!!”

Well, it is a great recording marred by mic. phasing that resulted in the balance
being hard left and the voices and instruments less clear, so I corrected the phasing
by cross mixing the channels until the stereo image became clearer, and also I
evened out the differing volume levels, so now it is a great listen…

…Enjoy !!

Band – Neil Young & Crazy Horse a.k.a. “The Echos”

Neil Young – vocals, guitar, keyboards, harmonica
Frank Sampedro – guitar, keyboards, vocals
Billy Talbot – bass, vocals
Ralph Molina – drums, vocals

## Track removed. Officially released on Broken Arrow (the aud taper’s very recording)
– that means you can actually patch in the missing track from the album if you care.
