LB-05420 ; 63min+55min ; 2CDR ; Rating: A

Taper: SG
Source: low-gen audio disks > (dBpowerAMP set to compression level 6) flac.

Note: There are channel problems on d2,but for the most part do not interefere with
the songs themselves until d2 t7, where they are severe and render the song unlistenable.
Checking the lists of a couple fine collectors, both note the channel problems in the SG recording.
There is one entry for this date in the Losslessbob archive, LB-501.
Since there is no mention of channel problems for LB-501, it would appear to be derived from a different master.

bittorrent download 10/07;
asymetrical wavs on d1t6 limited on top to -7db while bottom goes to -5db;
limiting heard as light static at d1t6 6:4x and begin of d2t7;
same recording as LB-0501 based on same crowd and clapping at beginning of d1t7
and same clapping wavs at end of d1t1;
in comparison this is clearer with less hiss as that probably has cassette
generation but that has right channel ok on d2 and does not have the asymetric
limited wav problem his does; excellent sound [A]

right channel starts dropping out at end of d2t3 while left channel is ok;
drop/cut between cdrs

From the original uploader:

Big thanks to Stepmo for the original upload and Spituchi for the-cover art (Thanks Enlight)

Additional comments(OEB): A nice compilation of various songs from the Golden heart tour.

The sound quality varies. Tracks 1-4are radio broadcasts with very good sound,
the other tracks are audience recordings.

Nice to have for the rarely played songs.

Enlight note:

Nice mixure of encores and rarely played songs during the 1996 Golden Heart tour.

The four tracks are from the “Hamburg Encores” a radio broadcast with perfect sound and four great versions these are.

Gravy version of “No CAn DO”

Lovely and sentimental version of “Last exit to Brooklyn” especially when Mark joines in with his guitar. (shivers down the spine)

“Vic and Ray” was played totaly different during this part of the tour than later ,e.g. more drums and a raw guitar sound.

One of my favourite song “Portobello belle” is absolutely great with the violin included and offcourse appreciated by the Irish crowd.

Great to hear Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings doing backing vocals on “Water of Love” (24th May 1996).

Comments from the original uploader: During this period, Georgie Fame — on Hammond Organ and backing vocals –was a tremendously influential presence in Van Morrison’s band; however, Georgie Was not present for this particular show. As a result, the timbre of this show is different, and perhaps owing to Georgie’s absence, the band stretches itself. Additionally, James Hunter
is on hand, and Van is in — by his standards — a garrulous mood.
