Complete show – down to the “outroduction”!

This was the third of four shows with Elton John and Mark
Knopfler in Japan. Where the previous evening’s performance
was at the giant “Tokyo Dome”, the second Tokyo performance
was at the Budokan Theatre.

Reseeder comments: This will be a little confusing. Geetarz has
provided Discs 1-4 and 7-8 of “Complete Japan Tour 1988” on the
“EC is Here” label, but was unable to extract Disc 5, He requested
that someone upload Discs 5-6.

ECMM previously uploaded this set, but divided it into two parts
instead of four parts as Geetarz has more recently done. Since it
is not proper to alter someone else’s previously-posted torrent,
I am providing ECMM’s torrent “EC – Complete Japan Tour ’88 Part
2” which contains Discs 5-8. In keeping with Geetarz’ naming scheme,
I am calling my torrent “Eric Clapton – Complete Japan Tour 1988
(EC is Here) – Part 3-4.” Of course, you have the option of
instructing your BitTorrent client not to download Discs 7-8 of
this torrent if you already have the Geetarz version.

Thanks to the ECMM, whose original torrent is contained in a
separate folder, completely unaltered. What follows are the original
seeder’s comments.

Geetarz Comments:

The second performance in a special 4-night run in Japan with
Elton John and Mark Knopfler, this performance was broadcast both
on Japanese radio and television.

The radio and television broadcasts each had a slightly different
mix, and for this, Mid Valley was able to source the pre-FM audio
mix that would later be used for the radio broadcast.

This broadcast mix features a bit more “atmosphere” and crowd
noise, the sort of thing I’ve always nicknamed the “live radio
show mix”. In the past I’ve described some other shows as “crispy”,
“crunchy”, “hot close-miked SBD” … and this isn’t any of those.
It’s a far more “open” sounding recording, as the engineers try to
balance the soundboard and audience recordings.

All presented and packaged in typical Mid Valley quality, par
excellence.

Geetarz Comments:

Nicely packaged 8CD boxset contains the entirety of Eric Clapton’s 1988
tour of Japan. Special guests on this tour also included (*) Mark
Knopfler on guitar and (**) Elton John on piano.

This performance was recorded and broadcast on Japanese TV and Radio.
This, however, is the audience recording of that performance, and
should not be confused with any other version.

I’m once again in travel mode.  Me and the fam are taking something like two weeks to roam across the Western US.  Over the last two days I did upload a bunch of shows and I’m thinking I’ll slowly pace posting those out so that you guys will get a show or two a day.  Or I might get bored and post them all at once.  Either way I’ll most likely run out before I get home.

Once  do get home I’ll have maybe two weeks before we take off to Europe for three months.  All of which is to say my days of posting regular are coming to an end.  But we’ve gone over that before.

Several of you have recently sent me shows and I want to give a great big thanks for that.  I’m also going to put out a general request for more.  When I’m in Europe I’m really not going to have the time to upload shows.  I’m going to try to link to various bootleg sites with cool shows as often as I can but it would be tremendous if some of my readers could send me shows and allow me to post them.  I love the idea of the Midnight Cafe becoming more of a community site than just me posting shows.

Anyways, as always, thanks for reading.  Enjoy the Talking Heads.
