This was a stellar band, at the cutting edge of jazz at this time.. The cutting edge was Coltrane, who was shortly to leave Miles Davis and make his own lasting revolution in jazz. You can hear him straining against the (impeccable) rhythm section, striving for something else, something edgier, further out. Magnificent art in the making!
