  1. Like so many of my peers, I grew frustrated with Neil’s nineteen-eighties escapades and largely abandoned him–at least until ‘Freedom’.

    I’m sure that made me the kind of fan Neil loves to hate.

    Anyway, it’s great to have the chance to hear how he was presenting his stuff at that time. This is not at all bad, and is, of course, pure Neil–for all that implies.

  2. These ‘solo’ 83 shows are actually pretty good. The 80s influences are greatly reduced by the context, and not intrusive at all.

    ps Larry Cragg could (and should) write the greatest Neil Young tour book of all time. All the roles (and instruments) he’s played for Neil over the decades!
