This is an excellent compilation. It sounds like at least 3 or 4 venues/dates. The 3rd track also has John Lee Hooker. The documentation shows Dylan accompanying Van on Crazy Love and Foreign Window but One Irish Rover sounds like it is part of the same session. Is that Bob singing with Van on Irish Rover? (I never would have guessed I might have difficulty distinguishing whether a vocal was from Dylan or not but this track has me confounded. What do you think? Is that Dylan singing backing vocals on track 10?
I don’t know. I looked around a little for some better info and came up short. This is apparently the audio to some kind of TV show that ran back out in the day. I guess Van and Bob got together in Athens specifically for this show or for video anyhow because they are sitting near the Acropolis. The rest of the songs are from different venues. I’d love to see the actual video sometime.
I agree though Bob’s voice sounds very different here. Usually he is so distinct. But maybe he was trying to blend in with Van and changed his voice or something.
