About Juneteenth:

http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/lkj01

On June 19 (“Juneteenth”), 1865, Union general Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation in Galveston, thus belatedly bringing about the freeing of 250,000 slaves in Texas. The tidings of freedom reached slaves gradually as individual plantation owners read the proclamation to their bondsmen over the months following the end of the war. The news elicited an array of personal celebrations, some of which have been described in The Slave Narratives of Texas (1974). The first broader celebrations of Juneteenth were used as political rallies and to teach freed African Americanqv about their voting rights. Within a short time, however, Juneteenth was marked by festivities throughout the state, some of which were organized by official Juneteenth committees.

From a 1st gen. audience VHS tape. Decent quality “stage recording” audio from a 1st gen. VHS tape. As is typical for this type of audience recording the instruments sound great but the vocals are a bit in the background. Carlos is out there for most of the set but there are 3 other guitarists and he is the guest so he doesn’t solo that much. But there are a few really ripping guitar solos if you know where to find them. Since the DVD video will have AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio this lossless version is for those who might want it this way too. I’m posting this before the video because I need some help with the setlist for the DVD authoring. I did the best I could but any additions/corrections will be much appreciated and the DVD video will follow shortly.

Just passed the 25th anniversary of this oneÖ.

In later years, the band would play fer most of the show with JLH merely appearing onstage fer a few songs. Here, however, we get a very spirited performance where the band warm-up is short and sweetÖ

This one is white hot! A SBD patch master, a rowdy crowd, a stinging guitar and perfect mix, itís all here.

Donít let the end cut detract yaÖitís 11 mins into the song and cuts during the band introductionsÖ

Enjoy this one, but please!

2nd generation SBD.
SB MASTER > 2ND GEN CASSETTE > M-AUDIO TRANSIT > COOL EDIT > CD WAVE EDITOR > FLAC (by Davmar77) > CD > EAC > FLAC (by anon.)

This was shared on the torrents a long time ago by Davmar77. It was before I kept FLAC files, due to a tiny hard drive. Since then, and over the years, I have seen this show surface in unknown lineage which doesn’t sound as good, or worse, this version turned into very lossy MP3. Either one is, imho, a downgrade. I waited for someone to re-post the FLAC files, but after not seeing them for a very long time, I decided to just re-FLAC my own. Better 1 CDR generation than several. I will be glad to replace, and delete this, if Davmar’s FLACs are re-posted.
