OldNeumanntapr Notes:
This was the first and, unfortunately, only time that I have seen Cowboy Junkies. I took my stealth gear down expecting to record covertly, but once in line I met up with another taper who had a nice microphone stand and he agreed to hang my AK 40 capsules below his own microphones. I don’t remember now what he was running. I had no idea that the Cowboy Junkies were not only agreeable to open taping but that they would actually guest list tapers! Wow. My kind of band! Margo Timmins has an absolutely AWESOME voice! I really enjoyed this show a lot. She told some great stories too, especially the one about the ‘game’ that her brothers (bandmates) play while on the road in the bus where they add the word ‘anal’ to the models of passing cars. “They’ve been doing this for years,” she said. “They can’t wait to see a Probe”! Too funny! I went down to Ventura with my friend Dave, and my girlfriend (later my wife) Genéte stayed behind. I think she would have liked it.
