Extraordinary stereo audience recording

According to Ghost Of The Road, there was another set in the end of the concert, consisting of R’n’R standards but I never had it.

Source 2:

my contribute for the 1983 tour with shocking pinks
This is a complete and better quality, and it’s a 3rd gen. tapes.
If this show will be surface from master, will be GREAT !!

Enjoy

Notes:
1st gen from the JEMS vaults.

The beginning of a new series from the JEMS archives. Up to now we’ve been putting up masters, but I’ve pulled out some first generation tapes and started transferring them. These aren’t ‘low-gen’ or ‘I-don’t-know’ gen tapes, these are legitimate 1st gen tapes, meaning my copy came right from the master. I got this from the guy that taped the show. It was a cassette master and this copy is probably as good as were going to get on this one which is a pretty good quality for this era of recording.

Setlist:

07 Are There Any More Real Cowboys?
08 Someday
09 Fuckin’ Up
10 Cinnamon Girl

Neil Young – lead vocvals, guitars, piano, & harp
Lukas Nelson – guitar & backing vocals
Micah Nelson – guitar & backing vocals
Corey McCormick – bass & backing vocals
Anthony Logerfo – drums
Tato Melgar – percussion

Taper Notes:
– “Down by the River” was played for almost 36 minutes.
– “Are There Any More Real Cowboys?” was dedicated to Willie Nelson in honor of his 83rd birthday.
– Beale is right on the banks of the Mississippi in a flat park on the riverbank, so more of an “open air” sound vs. echoes.
– Neil’s first show in Memphis since 1983.

Mastering Notes:
– Some annoying crowd chatter, and at one point Steve tells a girl to quit bumping him because he’s filming.
– Some “swirling” of the stereo effect, likely due to the distance Steve was from the stage in an open air venue.

2007 ALS comments: Special thanks to the one and only Professor Goody for advising on the proper pitch. Also smoothed tape flip transitions and retracked.

2013 edit by john234: I split “Good Year For The Roses” and “Colour Of The Blues” into separate tracks (aligned on SB, etc). Flac tags added with Foobar.

Torrent history:
– first posted on Dime by ALS in October 2007.
– one additional track-splitting, and reposted by john234 in January 2013.

After download, minor adjustments to tags using Mp3tag, and generated new md5 and ffp files using TLH.
