Geetarz Comments: Disc times are 62:51/44:25.

Also features Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin on guitar, and Alphonze Mouzon on drums, during the encore.

“Badge” and “I Shot the Sheriff” from this concert were officially released on the “Crossroads 2: Live in the Seventies” box set. Please note that this audience recording is not complete, to begin with it was missing “Sheriff” and “Can’t Find My Way Home”. To appease the DIME gods and prevent confusion from anyone stupid enough to confuse an officially released soundboard track with a pretty crappy audience recording, D1T3, “Badge” has been removed from this torrent. More information about the missing track(s) can be discussed on the ClaptonBoots group (http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/ClaptonBoots/).

Please note that although I have run across several different lineages of this recording, they have all been missing the same 2 tracks so at this point I think it’s a safe assumption to consider that they were not recorded, or at least the full recording is not to be found in the trading pool. I hope to be proven wrong, but in the meantime this is the best sounding recording of this historic concert that I have encountered.

Notes:

Digitally remastered using a custom built, Dual-DAW, nicknamed Bertha, by jashley@deadacated.com on April 3, 2003.

The first sounds like it was from a different source than the second set. The channels were reversed on the first set, as well. The channels were corrected prior to processing.

Because of the difference in sound quality between the first and second sets, they were processed separately. The objective, as well as improving the sonic quality, was to match the sound from set to set, as close as possible.

The last 20 minutes of the show is patched from a Soundboard/Audience source and was also processed separately.

The patches on d1t01 and d3t03 were done by others prior to receiving the show.

*The introduction is edited out. It’s only 1 minute offically released music played from a reel at the beginning of the show.

I know I know, Billy Joel right? Really, I mean, do I want my street cred all but lost? But you know what? This is a good show. He’s still a bit cheezy, but the playing is good, and the energy is a lot of fun, and the sound is great. And come on, just try to tell me you don’t sing along when “Piano Man” comes on!
