The was a C/C- very degraded SBD tape that had almost no high end and a few flaws. The challenge was to bring up the top end without increasing the significant hiss above acceptable levels. This required several continuous noise filters both before and after equalization to bring up the lacking areas. This turned out pretty successful.
Several spots of static in Black Peter could not be totally eliminated but were reduced.
The cut at the end of Dancin’ was cleaned up.
Several seconds of diginoise in Love Light was completely cleaned up.
All editing done with DCArt Millennium software.

From Deadists:
During the pause after Me & My Uncle, referring to the free concert the next day at Altamont Bobby says “Bear wants me to tell you to bring dope” and Jerry adds “Not only that but it’s something to do.”

Harry Ely mastered this AUD tape. He was a little fast on his pause button at this show. He clips several songs and pauses three times during drums. Otherwise, he made quite a decent audience tape for ’69 Dead.

Jerry introduces Dire Wolf saying “This is a song you can all sing along on “and as it turned out “Don’t murder me, I beg of you, don’t murder me” was a good refrain at Altamont. Jerry uses this intro the night before as well.

The longest China Cat > Rider bridge jam yet features a Caution tease from Phil among its divagations.

The Uncle John’s Jam is just a scrap from the song’s jam in 7s. Apparently the previous night was the song’s premier (there are Uncle John’s Jams on 11/7 and 11/8) but as far as we know they didn’t play the tune again till
12/12. Given this taper’s fast pause button finger, he’s quite capable of having clipped the transition from Uncle John’s jam into the Main Ten, but unless he ran into serious trouble it’s difficult to figure how he lost
nearly the whole of Uncle John in a flip (he had a flip coming, probably, after Dire Wolf). The evidence leaves it totally unclear whether they played the tune or just the jam.

This source is listed in the database as a soundboard and attributed to Jeff Cotsman. This is beyond doubt an audience source as listed in the text. I have remnamed the show file to correctly reflect it’s lineage.

The original text & Deadlists incorrectly lists an Eleven Jam > 2nd Other One in the first set. These two songs are not present, were not played and have been removed from the text listing. The Other One transitions directly into Cryptical reprise which transitions directly into Cosmic Charlie. How the additional songs got listed in the first place is a mystery to me. How no one has never corrected the listing before now is even stranger.

From the original uploader:
This is one of the more muffled and hissy master cassette SBDs from the ’69 era. It sounds like there could be several analog generations in the lineage, though the lack of crisp sound quality might mostly be attributed to
the master, which is reportedly degraded. Many analog related crackles and blemishes were embedded in the recording. Sound Forge was used to smooth or reduce most of the glitches, though many minor blemishes remain. Sound Forge was also used to normalize and correct the pitch.

– Nice recording.  I found the show to be a bit sloppy,
including a botched ending to Cats Under the Stars and
consistently rough vocals.  Great songs, some nice
performances, but not the highlight of late ’83, IMO, YMMV.
– I smoothed a few tape transitions (during applause/tunings)
and did quick crossfades (0.05s on each side) at the cut in
Dear Prudence using Sound Forge Studio 6.0.
– d1t05 Valerie clips in
– d1t06 Tangled Up in Blue cuts out, missing maybe a minute?
– d2t02 Rhapsody some muffling in the 6-minute mark
– d2t05 Dear Prudence tape flip @ very start, not much missing

Comments from the original uploader: The beginning/first notes of several tracks are clipped by in-between song tape pauses including: d1t01, d1t02, d2t01. The recording is on the short side as well. There’s loads of room for filler if you’re into that kind of thing ;-o

Jerry flubs up and starts out singing the second verse of Mississippi Moon and the song falls apart when he says “Let me start that again, is that ok with everybody? You’re so nice!” – much to the audience’s delight. The levels on this recording are pretty hot on several tracks with clipping in d2t02.
