Notes:

Artwork, EAC Rip Log, FLAC Fingerprints and MD5 Verification File all included.

Sound quality starts out a little rough, but picks up (a little) during My Wife. It’s still far from perfect though! There is a cut during Magic Bus before continuing on to the next track (presumably a tape flip). The latter half of the show is of marginally better sound quality.

During this gig, Roger and Pete get a little irate with the unruly crowd. This can all be heard during the Banter track prior to My Generation. There’s lots of other stage banter throughout the gig too.

Relay also contains a small cut.

Note: CD 1, tracks 1-4 left off my first (February 2010) upload due to being completely garbled and unlistenable on the original recording; now reinserted after being painstakingly repaired by fellow ìWhonaticî and audio expert Jon Hamm from March to July (!) 2010; equally damaged ìMagic Busî on orig. upload and ìThe Relayî which had suffered from a few lesser dropouts now also repaired; further minor clicks and drop-outs in other tracks also fixed.

Uploaded to Dime in July 2010 by DocDondy with thanks to the unknown Danish taper for sharing his gem.

And do not spread this show in lossy formats, either.

So, with John’s help and today’s technology, this is the first time in 38 years that this best sounding 1972 Who show gets into circulation in its entirety and has become continuously listenable.

Enjoy ñ and Who ahoy!

(some of my song titles may not be correct)

Aah yes, the old days – great 4 day run, back in the days of PEOPLExpress. Flew down to see the Dead in Hampton on 4/13/84 and 4/14/84 for about $40 round trip. Then back to Buffalo for the Folk Fest, then the Dead again in Rochester on 4/16/84. Sacrificed Niagara Falls so I could see all three Philly shows, both Providence shows, and both Nassau shows.

The event was billed as the “13th Annual Buffalo Folk Fest”. I’m not sure if this was a joke or whether this is an annual event in Buffalo. I lived there from 1963 to 1978 and this was the only “Buffalo Folk Fest” I know of.

Notes
here’s a really nice recording of the band from one of richard manuel’s last shows. they played a few nights at the lone star cafe in nyc and i had the pleasure of attending a couple nights. it was a blast seeing them in such a small venue. i didn’t make the recording but got it directly from the guy that did. it’s an excellent sb from the late show on feb. 6,1986. i understand that most of the shows from that week are around in similar quality but this is the only one i have. as a bonus, steve winwood, who was in town working on his own project, sits in on the last song but don’t get too excited about that since you can barely tell he’s there. i’ve seen this listed as feb. 8 but i’m going with the master source on this. as always, all info is in the file.

Label: Gipsy Eye 137/138
Material from this show has also been released on the bootleg “Crazy Tour”. It is, however, incomplete and the sound quality is inferior to this one.

Audio Source: Audience recording

Sound quality: EX – EX+ for an audience recording.
True lossless files (ripped in burst mode, but that does not affect quality unless there were ripping errors – I have spotted nothing sounding like that in the files). The tracks are expertly mastered, with nicely balanced frequency/amplitude ranges. Quite audible crowd presence that enhances the live feeling without interfering with the clear sound of music.

Lineage: Aud ? > ? > Silver Bootleg > CDR (X) > WAV (EAC) [burst mode] > FLAC (Level 8)
