Stage Banter by Tom Pratt.

A good soundboard with some slight hiss.

This is a great show from the second leg of the Who’s Next 1971 US tour. The performance is probably one of the best of the year, the stage banter is silly as usual and the sound is pretty good. Not perfect for a soundboard recording but Who soundboards from this era are very rare so this one is worth checking out.

Bob Weir – Marin County, CA (xx/xx/71)

Bob Weir
1971 Demos for Ace LP

These are solo acoustic references made with lyricist John Barlow, recorded at Bob’s Marin home during Fall of 1971. Sourced from pre-FM production CD made by David Gans for one of his KPFA Dead Marathon pledge drives a few years ago. Some of Weir’s most beloved songs in their embryonic stage. “C Shuffle” is an early development of “Walk In The Sunshine.” The unknown song is nice and is unique to these reference recordings.

2 unknown song 1
3 Cassidy 1
4 Black Throated Wind

Notes from torrenter:

The 2nd (and final) performance of the DR ZOOM & THE SONIC BOOM from the 1st annual “Ernie The Chicken Festival” – an excuse for an all-day, outdoor party extravaganza featuring several local bands including SUNNY JIM and ODIN. A very good quality soundboard tape of most (possibly all) of the Dr Zoom set has been in circulation since the early 1990’s and can be found on the CD boot “The Bruce Springsteen Story, Vol 5 – Dr Zoom & The Sonic Boom” (E.ST). The liner notes of the bootleg incorrectly lists the audio as emanating from the previous night’s performance at The Sunshine In – however this audio is definitely from the outdoor (not indoor) Dr Zoom show. MC Kevin Connair can be heard jokingly warning the campus Ambulances (who were parked nearby) to get ready as Bruce opens the show with some screeching guitar.
