Taped by Legendary Taper E.

The sources identified by Watt Alexander in the “Gospel Project” for this date are obviously derived
from this LTE version (apparently the only ciculating version). The recording that I received has some
“bonus tracks” appended to the end of the concert. I have no information as to the source of these particular tracks,
but I have left them in the torrent folder. They can of course be omitted in burning if one wishes to just keep
the 11-9-79 material.

From a hard rain to a slow train.

Helena’s going to come up and sing a song she wrote called “What Are You Doing With Your Heart?”

You all know we’re living in the end of times, near the last of the end of times. And the end of times are perilous times, and the last days perilous times shall be (Ö.). And you’re gonna need something strong to hold on to. The name of this song is “I’m Hanging On To A Solid Rock Made Before The Foundation Of The World.” You’re gonna need something just about that strong.

Playing bass tonight is Tim Drummond, give him a hand. Lead guitar, Fred Tackett. On keyboards, Spooner Oldham. On the other set of keyboards and backing vocals, Terry Young. On drums, Jim Keltner. Mona Lisa Young. In the middle, Regina Havis. On the end, Helena Springs. (before Blessed Be The Name)

Note from the original uploader: Some weeks back I seeded a show I thought was 11-07-79 (it was given to me with that label), but which turned out to be 11-06-79. When I discovered this misidentification, I promised to seed an authentic 11-07-79. I have now received an authentic version of 11-07-79 from a trader who was a source for Watt Alexander’s “The Gospel Project”. This trader is somewhat more careful in his use of the term “offmaster” than some others, and did not guarantee that this recording fits that description; thus I have avoided the use of this term here. However,listening to the recording, there is noquestion that it is of entirely comparable quality to the other recordingsJefferson and I have seeded from the Warfield/Warfield run. I do have anotherrecording of 11-07-79 promised to me that is said to be “offmaster”, and if there is any difference in quality I can make it available.

From the original uploader:

Offmaster of an audience recording taped by Legendary Taper E.

The recording, like the other LTE recordings in this series, lacks all eight songs
performed by the band. More surpisingly, it also lacks “Precious Angel” (which was
performed after “”Man Gave Names to All the Animals”),as well as Dylan’s rap preceding
“Solid Rock.” The absence of “Precious Angel” on this recording has led some researchers
to not include it in the setlist, but there is apparently an alternative recording of
the show which while including the band songs, is more severely incomplete with
respect to Dylan’s performance than the LTE recording, but does include “Precious
Angel.”

(Incidentally, if any one has this alternative recording, I would happily
trade for a copy. According to the “Gospel Project”, the performance of “Precious
Angel” is outstanding.)

* This seed is an upgrade over all circulating copies. The reel tape
wascarefully transferred by Gerhard Schinzel, reducing the speed
problems that marred previous copies. Gerhard has had a 1st
generation copy off Richard Wethey’s master recording since 1976.
* The first seconds of Dire Wolf and Dark Star are cut.
* The d2t8 jam cuts off.
* About 2 minutes are missing from the beginning of Man’s World.

The following are details of the tape speed correction that was
performed digitally.
The numbers express the amount of semitones the source tape ran too
fast:
* acoustic set: constant 0.4
* Gradual speed-up from 0.4 to 0.6 during Easy Wind & Cumberland,
* Dire Wolf: 0.6
* Dark Star: 0.5; almost constant
* Man’s World: varying between 0.4 to 0.5

The attribution of the 4/24/70 date to this tape is debatable.
Richard’s notes accompanying Gerhard’s reel copy do not mention any
specific day; the only information given is “Mammoth Gardens Denver
1970”, which leaves the choice between 4/24 and 4/25.
There is a newspaper article reviewing the second show; this article
is transcribed at http://www.mail-archive.com/deadlists@nemesis.cs.
berkeley.edu/msg02287.html . The fact that Man’s World appears on
this tape points to 4/25. Uli Teute writes on Deadlists, “I don’t
know how the 24th got attributed to what richard taped, but if he
taped the 24. and the newspaper article is correct that would make
3 DarkStars in a row (the 26th also has a Dark Star) – very
unlikely – plus the article matches our tape just perfect. maybe
we have the 25th. and do not know a bit about 4-24”.

I believe this show was torrented earlier (in an upgraded form as I remember). I decided to seed this offmaster so as to provide a complete documentation of LTE’s recording of the Warfield shows. If you previously downloaded the bit torrent for 11-16-79, then
perhaps you will not wish to download this one (I must hasten to add that I have not done a comparison listening of this recording and the recently circulating version).

Is this overkill on the sources? The completeist in me wants everything, but the realist realizes than some sources are pretty much the same and it starts to waste my time and space putting up sources nobody wants. Let me know what you think in the comments – Mat
